What is Eduroam;

Eduroam is a WiFi technology roaming network that has its roots in the European GEANT academic network. The organizations that participate with the logic of the federation, provide access services (Service Provider) to the Internet via WiFi to the users of all the participating organizations. Users gain secure access to the network by authenticating their identity through the Identity Provider infrastructure of their organization (Home Organization).

What do I need to connect my devices?

In order to connect to Eduroam you must have an Institutional account (e-mail) at NCSR ‘Demokritos’ and configure your device accordingly.

Windows, Linux, Apple MAC, iPad, iPhone, Android devices that support modern encryption and authentication protocols WPA2/AES or higher can be connected. Devices are prepared for connection to Eduroam with the automated configuration programs available on the platform  https://cat.eduroam.org

How and where do I use it?

Every member of EKEFE ‘Demokritos’ can, after setting up their device, connect to the internet at thousands of access points in over 100 countries. The Eduroam Companion App is available on google play and the Apple App Store to help you locate the nearest access point.  https://eduroam.org/eduroam-companion-app/

At NCSR ‘Demokritos’ Eduroam is already available at the Conference Center, the Adminstation’s Office and the Technological Park Lefkippos and wherever the new wireless network which is under construction is being put into operation. After connecting you have immediate access to the Internet.

If it doesn’t work?

Please confirm that you have followed the installation instructions exactly and that you have successfully tested your Eduroam connection at a wireless access point within NCSR ‘D’.

The Eduroam service has been in pilot mode since 25/10/2023 and some downtime is likely to occur due to debugging and enhancement processes.

Τί είναι το eduroam;

Το eduroam είναι ένα δίκτυο περιαγωγής τεχνολογίας WiFi που έχει τις ρίζες του στο Ευρωπαϊκό ακαδημαιϊκό δίκτυο GEANT. Οι οργανισμοί που συμμετέχουν με την λογική της ομοσπονδίας, παρέχουν υπηρεσιές πρόσβασης (Service Provider) στο διαδίκτυο μέσω WiFi στους χρήστες όλων των συμμετεχόντων οργανισμών. Οι χρήστες αποκτούν ασφαλή πρόσβαση στο δίκτυο πιστοποιόντας την ταυτότητα τους μέσα από την υποδομή παροχής ταυτότητας (Identity Provider) τους οργανισμού τους(Home Organization).

Τί χρειάζεται για να συνδέσω τις συσκευές μου;

Για να συνδεθείτε στο eduroam θα πρέπει να έχετε ιδρυματικό λογαριασμό (email) στο ΕΚΕΦΕ ‘Δημόκριτος’ και να ρυθμίσετε κατάλληλα την συσκευή σας.

Μπορούν να συνδεθούν συσκευές windows, linux, Apple MAC, ipad, iphone, android που υποστηρίζουν σύγχρονα πρωτόκολλα κρυπτογραφίας και αυθεντικοποίησης WPA2/AES ή νεότερα. Οι συσκευές προετοιμάζονται για την σύνδεση τους στο eduroam με τα προγράμματα αυτοματοποιημένης παραμετροποίησης που είναι διαθέσιμα στην πλατφόρμα  https://cat.eduroam.org

Προσοχή:
  1. Τα πακέτα παραμετροποίησης είναι εξειδικευμένα για κάθε οργανισμό.
  2. Πραγματοποιήστε την παραμετροποίηση της συσκευής σας κοντά σε ένα σημείο πρόσβασης του eduroam εντός του ΕΚEΦΕ ‘Δ’.
  3. Username και password είναι τα αντίστοιχα του email σας.
Πως και πού το χρησιμοποιώ;

Κάθε μέλος του ΕΚΕΦΕ ‘Δημόκριτος’ μπορεί, αφού ρυθμίσει την συσκευή του, να συνδεθεί στο διαδίκτυο σε χιλιάδες σημεία πρόσβασης σε πάνω από 100 χώρες. Η εφαρμογή eduroam Companion App είναι διαθέσιμη στο google play και το Apple App Store για να σας βοηθήσει να εντοπίσετε το κοντινότερο σημείο πρόσβασης.  https://eduroam.org/eduroam-companion-app/

Στο ΕΚΕΦΕ ‘Δημόκριτος’ το eduroam είναι ήδη διαθέσιμο στο Συνεδριακό κέντρο, το Διοικητήριο και το ΤΕΠΑ Λεύκιππος και όπου τίθεται σε λειτουργία το νέο ασύρματο δίκτυο που βρίσκεται υπό κατασκευή. Μετά την σύνδεση έχετε άμεσα πρόσβαση στο διαδίκτυο.

Εάν δεν λειτουργεί;

Παρακαλούμε επιβεβαιώστε ότι έχετε ακολουθήσει με ακρίβεια τις οδηγίες εγκατάστασης και ότι έχετε δοκιμάσει με επιτυχία την σύνδεση σας στο eduroam σε κάποιο σημείο ασύρματης πρόσβασης εντός του ΕΚΕΦΕ ‘Δ’.

Η υπηρεσία eduroam είναι σε πιλοτική λειτουργία από τις 25/10/2023 και είναι πιθανό να εμφανιστούν κάποια διαστήματα παύσης της λειτουργίας λόγω διαδικασιών αποσφαλμάτωσης και εφαρμογής βελτιώσεων.
